This was a pretty blue house, crying out to be painted. I liked the cranberry-colored curtains. Very Maine.

I happened upon this tree in a small park in Hallowell, Maine. In August the grass had turned an amazing bright yellow. The dappled shadows from the tree were mauve. It was a hot day and the sun was very strong.

I love that tree! It is begging for me to climb up and sit on the branch. Did you take a picture and then paint, or sit there and paint?

Hi Renee-
Thanks for you nice comment. I did this painting in the boiling hot sun. So hot in fact that the oil paint was actually kind of runny, which was weird.
