The Treasures of Tutankhamun, The Splendors of the Sohites and Me

In 1976 the Treasures of Tutankhamun exhibit came to America for the first time, to the National Gallery in Washington. I know that more than a million people went to see the show, and it was reported that the Gallery was always jammed. As it happens, I had a friend who worked at the museum who was able to put together a VIP tour after hours for me and some other people. Security? They didn’t need no stinkin’ security. For an hour we could walk around, getting as close as we wanted to the cases which for me, even still, are contained most beautiful objects ever created. I’ve never had such a welling up of emotions simply looking. Tears came to my eyes. I’ve never forgotten the experience. (more…)

Hello.
I'm Stephen Springer Davis
I'm a pretty much self-taught and pretty much unknown artist and designer living near Philadelphia. The plan is to tell you about my artwork, why I do it, maybe how I do it, and also about other artists who've inspired me along the way.
